Nothing in the house stayed assembled for long. My mother gave in early and started bringing home broken electronics for me to take apart, which did not help.
Fifteen years in IT followed. It started with a co-op placement at a datacentre for Defense. I went to college afterwards meaning to go into security, and fell in love with datacenter operations instead.
After college came two firms. I went in as a sysadmin and came out leading the security team, so the thing I had studied for found me in the end. From there I moved to senior support and consulting for our Proxmox clients, and was in training to become a Certified Proxmox Trainer.
The consulting is the part I would keep. It took me across retail, manufacturing, public works and infrastructure, internet providers, aerospace, higher education and scientific research, which is a rare vantage point: the same hypervisor underneath, and a completely different set of stakes on top of it.
Then I had a change of heart about what I wanted to be doing. I left the consulting world and was offered a director-level position in tech. What that gave me back was time: time for development, and time to work through a backlog of projects that had been waiting years for me to stop firefighting.
That backlog is what this site is.

A professor once described me that way, and I think it fits. Over the years the curiosity has handed me:

They overlap more than they look like they should. The rack in the basement is where most of them meet: hosting for friends needs servers, servers need hardware, hardware occasionally needs a soldering iron, and the whole thing gets easier if you can write the tool you are missing.
What this site is
Somewhere to put the finished things. Stream Deck plugins, game mods, and the odd piece of homelab plumbing, each one built because the rack needed it first. If any of it is useful to you, it is yours.
