A framing crew that never stopped being carpenters.
Waugh Construction Inc. builds in and around Sydenham, Ontario — new custom homes, whole-house renovations, and heavy timber frames.
Most of what we do starts on a sawhorse. Timber gets laid out, cut, and test-fit before it ever reaches your site, which is why our frames go up square and our finish work lands tight. Foundations, framing, timber, finish — one crew, one number to call, start to finish.
What we build
Three things, done properly.
We keep the list short on purpose. Every job is one of these, and we'd rather be the crew that's genuinely good at three than passable at ten.
Renovations
Additions, kitchens, gut jobs, and structural work on older houses. We open walls carefully and tell you straight what's behind them.

Exposed heavy timber — full frames, great rooms, porches, pavilions, and accent trusses. Joinery cut in the shop, raised on site.

Purpose-built from the slab up, with 16′ ceilings for maximum usable volume and flexibility. Finished with stone elements and a custom timber accent to soften a building that's fundamentally about getting work done.

How a job runs
Foundations, framing, timber, finish.
Same four stages on every build. You'll always know which one you're in and what happens next.
Foundations
Site walk, layout, excavation, footings and walls. We get the base dead level and properly drained — everything above it depends on this.
Framing
Floor systems, walls, and roof structure go up square and plumb, sheathed and dried in so the interior trades can start on schedule.
Timber
Heavy timber is laid out and cut in the shop, test-fit, then raised on site. Joinery you can see is joinery worth doing right.
Finish
Trim, stairs, built-ins and the hundred small details that decide whether a house feels finished. Then a punch list we actually close out.

We're based in Sydenham, and most of our work is within about an hour of the shop. Further out for the right timber frame — ask us.
