The main page on an XL, three minutes into a map. The keys are drawn by the plugin's own code from a made-up session.

What it shows

  • Zone and Act: the area you are in, its act or interlude (or Atlas, hideout and other endgame areas) and its area level.
  • Time: time in the current zone, the session time, and the time in the current or last map.
  • Runs: the areas and maps you have run this session, with your average time a map. A map you leave and enter again through its portal counts once.
  • Level: your level, the levels you gained this session and how long each took, and the time since your last level-up.
  • Deaths: this session, and a running tally for each character.
  • Last whisper: who whispered you, what they said and how long ago. A trade request from the trade site shows the item and the price.

That is what the game's log says, and only that. The log has no experience points, life, mana, flask charges or currency, so there is no experience bar and no flask timers.

What you need

  • Windows 10 or 11 with Stream Deck software 7.1 or newer.
  • A Stream Deck, Stream Deck XL, Stream Deck +, Stream Deck Mini, Stream Deck Neo or a Corsair Galleon 100 SD.
  • Path of Exile 2 on the same PC, through Steam or the standalone client.
  • No mod and no account. Start the game once before you add keys: it makes its log and its settings file the first time it runs.

1. Install the plugin

In testing. Exile Deck is built, against the current game, and is going through its first run in the game. This page will say how to get it once that run has checked it against the game itself.

2. Set up: the log and your key bindings

There is usually nothing to set up. Exile Deck finds two files on its own:

  • The log, logs\Client.txt in the game's folder, from your Steam library or the standalone client's folder. It reads only the end of the file as it grows, never the whole thing, so a log of several gigabytes is no trouble.
  • Your key bindings, in Documents\My Games\Path of Exile 2\poe2_production_Config.ini (OneDrive's Documents folder too), for the way you play: WASD or click to move.

Every key's settings have a Setup section that says whether both were found. If the game lives somewhere unusual, enter its folder (or the Client.txt itself) under Log file, and the settings file's folder under Settings file.

Without the game the keys say what is missing instead of going blank: Start the game once before the game has ever made its log, game not running with the game closed, and at the menu at character select. Game keys show the key they would press, or Not bound, even with the game closed.

Your character

The log does not name your character when you log in. Exile Deck finds it from your level-ups, quest rewards and deaths, and leaves out party members who come and go. In a party, type your character's name under Character in the settings to be sure.

3. The Exile Deck key and its pages

Drag the Exile Deck key onto any profile and press it: your deck opens a ready-made layout with a main page and five more, with Back at the bottom left of every page.

  • Main page: the zone, area level, session, deaths, level, maps, the last whisper, Hideout and Follow, with keys to the other pages.
  • Town: the last whisper with Reply, Invite and Trade With, Hideout, AFK, the session and trades, your character, Portal and the panels you open in town.
  • Maps: the zone and area level, map time, maps run, deaths, flasks and charms, Portal, Hideout, skills and Dodge Roll.
  • Campaign: the zone, act and area level, time in the zone, your level, level pace and time at your level, deaths, Portal, Hideout, flasks and the passive tree.
  • Trade: the whisper keys and Visit Hideout, Hideout, AFK, trades, the session, Inventory, Market, Social and Close Panels.
  • Skills: your skill keys, flasks and Dodge Roll.
Two Stream Deck pages side by side. Maps: Zone, Withered Orchard, Atlas, level 72; Area Level 72; Map Time 3:00; Maps Run 2, average 12:00 a map; Deaths 2 in red; then Life Flask on the key 1, Mana Flask on 2, Charm 1 on 3, Portal on P and Hideout, /hideout; then Back to the main page, Skill 4 on Q, Skill 5 on E, Dodge Roll on Space, and Next Page, Campaign. Trade: Whisper from Quillon, back in five? the boss is up next, 6 min ago; Reply, Invite, Trade With and Visit Hideout, each naming Quillon in blue; then Hideout, AFK Off, Trades 1 done and 1 cancelled, Session 45:00 and Inventory on I; then Back, Market on the slash key, Social on J, Close Panels on Space, and Next Page, Skills.

There is a layout for the Stream Deck, XL, +, Mini, Neo and Corsair Galleon 100 SD. Stream Deck offers them when the plugin is installed. The XL gets every readout on its main page and full rows of skills, flasks, charms and panels on the others; the Mini and the Neo get the essentials on each page, with a Next Page key.

On the Stream Deck + and the Galleon 100 SD every page fills all four dial screens: the zone, the session, your character and your whispers on the main page, and maps, zoom and flasks where they fit. On the Galleon 100 SD the two dials and their second layer (hold a dial for about 3 seconds) carry the four screens.

Left, a Stream Deck +: Zone, Withered Orchard, Atlas, level 72; Session 45:00; the whisper from Quillon; Follow, on, lit bronze; then Back, the Town and Maps pages and Next Page, Town. On its touch strip, four dial screens: Zone, Withered Orchard, Atlas, level 72, 3:00; Session 45:00 since the game started; Velmira_Ashfall, Lv 25 Witch, +3, 14:00 at level; and Quillon, 1 of 2, back in five? the boss is up next, push replies. Right, a Corsair Galleon 100 SD: Zone, Withered Orchard; Area Level 72; Session 45:00; Level, Lv 25 Witch; Deaths 2 in red; the whisper from Quillon; Hideout; Portal on P; Follow, on; Back; the Town page; and Next Page, Town. Beside its keys, the same four dial screens in a two by two grid.

Follow

With the Follow key on, the deck turns to the Town page in a town or hideout, to Maps in a map or another endgame area, and to Campaign in an act or interlude. It can also turn to Trade for 90 seconds when a trade whisper arrives (off unless you tick it). It waits a second and a half before it turns, so loading screens do not flip it, and a page you choose by hand stays put until you move somewhere else. Each page has its own tick in the Follow key's settings.

4. The keys and dials

  • Readout: zone, act, area level, time in zone, session, areas run, maps run with the average, map time, level, level pace, time at level, deaths, deaths for this character, character and trades. A press reads the log again.
  • Game Key: skills 1 to 13, the life and mana flasks, three charms, portal, dodge roll, weapon swap, minions, detonate, zoom in and out, highlight, screenshot, and the game's panels (inventory, passive tree, character, world, atlas tree, skills, social, challenges, market, close panels). Each shows the key you bound in the game's Options and presses it once. Rebind a skill in the game and the key follows.
  • Chat Command: Hideout, AFK (lit while AFK is on), and Invite, Trade With and Visit Hideout for the last player who whispered you. Reply fills in their name and leaves the message to you: it sends nothing.
  • Last Whisper: who, what and how long ago; a trade request shows the item and the price. A press replies, invites or trades with them, as you choose in its settings.
  • Follow: on or off, and what it follows.

On a Stream Deck + or a Galleon 100 SD, the Exile Dial draws a full dial screen:

5. One press, one action

Every key does one thing per press, as Grinding Gear Games' rules for third-party tools ask:

  • A game key sends your bound key once. A chat key opens chat with your own chat key, types one command and sends it.
  • Nothing repeats, nothing runs on a timer, and nothing is pressed because of something in the log. No Exile Deck key can go in a Stream Deck multi action.
  • Keys press only while Path of Exile 2 is the window in front. Alt-tab away and a press does nothing; the key says game not in front.
  • A skill bound to a mouse button shows the button and says a Stream Deck key cannot press it.

Also on the XENEON EDGE

Exile Deck can also write a small dashboard file, %APPDATA%\ExileDeck\state.json, every two seconds while Stream Deck runs. Exile Dashboard, our iCUE widget for the Corsair XENEON EDGE, reads it: your zone, session, maps, character and whispers on the touchscreen under your monitor. The setting Write a state file for a Xeneon Edge widget turns the file off, and Include whispers in it leaves whispers out of it.

6. What it can and cannot do

  • From the log it reads only zones, level-ups, deaths, whispers to you, trades and AFK. From the settings file it reads only your key bindings, never your login details.
  • No mod, nothing changed in the game or its files. It opens no network connection and needs no account. Nothing leaves your PC.
  • It writes two files, both in %APPDATA%\ExileDeck: the death tally for each character, and the dashboard file for the widget, which a setting turns off.
  • Its own log, in Stream Deck's logs folder, holds states and key names only, never a character, player or whisper.

Frequently asked

The keys say Start the game once.

The game has never made its log on this PC, or it lives where Exile Deck did not look. Start Path of Exile 2 once; if the keys still say it, enter the game's folder under Log file in a key's settings.

A game key does nothing.

Keys only go to the game while it is the window in front. Check that the key shows a key and not Not bound or a mouse button. If the game runs as administrator, Windows blocks key presses from programs that do not, so start the game normally.

It shows a party member as my character.

Type your character's name under Character in any key's settings.

Why is there no experience bar?

The game's log does not record experience, only level-ups. Exile Deck shows what the log says: your level, the levels gained this session, how long each took and the time at your current level.

Is this made by Grinding Gear Games?

No. Exile Deck is an unofficial project made by TeaTime. This product isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Grinding Gear Games in any way. Path of Exile 2 belongs to Grinding Gear Games. No game logo, artwork, font or screenshot is used: every key is drawn in code.
