Tanks
You start with a small tank with room for 4 fish. Each size up is bought once and keeps everything in it.
Medium tank
Moves your fish into a bigger tank. More water means a full tank clouds over no faster than a small one, so the one you saved up for is calmer to keep, not more work.
Large tank
Moves your fish into a bigger tank. More water means a full tank clouds over no faster than a small one, so the one you saved up for is calmer to keep, not more work.
Grand tank
Moves your fish into a bigger tank. More water means a full tank clouds over no faster than a small one, so the one you saved up for is calmer to keep, not more work.
A second tank
One tank of each water. The two share a wallet and a level; everything else is their own.
Saltwater tank
A saltwater tank beside your freshwater one, with clownfish, royal grammas, firefish, a blue tang and the lionfish, and a line-up to pick its first fish from. Set a Tank key to Saltwater to open it.
Freshwater tank
Only if your first tank is saltwater (it could be converted before 1.2): a freshwater tank to go beside it.
Lights
The basic hood comes with the tank. A brighter light shows the colours off and grows the plants and coral that need it, but algae grows faster under it too.
Planted light
Lets live plants grow. Needed before the shop will sell you any.
Reef light
Bright enough for coral and anemones in a saltwater tank, and it makes every fish glow.
Food
Everyone starts on flakes. Better food is bought once and used from then on: it fills a fish further, pleases it a little, and leaves less behind to rot.
Sinking pellets
Pellets sink to the bottom, so the slow fish and the bottom feeders get their share.
Frozen brine shrimp
A treat they go wild for, and the best for bringing a pair into breeding condition.
Plants and decor
Everything you put in the tank makes the fish a little happier, and some of it keeps the water cleaner. Decor and food together add at most +15% happiness, and however planted a tank is, it still needs cleaning.
Plastic plant
A cheap way to make the tank feel lived in. Fish like having something to swim round.
Live plant
Real plants take up some of the waste, so the water stays clear for longer. They need the planted light to grow.
Rock pile
A little pile of stones for the fish to explore.
Moss ball
Soft green balls that roll about the sand and soak up a little of the dirt.
Driftwood
A gnarled branch of driftwood, a favourite hiding place.
Dragon stone
Craggy, rust-coloured stone that makes a tank look like a scape.
Lava rock
Porous rock that holds on to a little of the dirt.
Seiryu stone
Pale blue-grey stone with sharp ridges, the classic aquascaping rock.
Quartz cluster
A cluster of crystals that catches the light.
Bubbling chest
A treasure chest that bubbles now and then. One per tank.
Castle
The centrepiece every tank deserves. One per tank.
Saltwater decor
Sold in the saltwater tank's shop.
Live rock
Rock alive with the bacteria that keep a reef clean. The saltwater answer to live plants.
Coral
Colour for a reef tank, and the fish love it. Needs the reef light.
Wavemaker
Keeps the water moving, which marine fish enjoy and which carries dirt away. One per tank.
Anemone
Swaying tentacles for your clownfish to call home. Needs the reef light.
Breeding box
Breeding box
Eggs laid inside are safe from hungry fish, and it doubles as a hospital: a fish with white spot can be kept apart in it so it doesn't spread.
The clean-up crew
Shrimp and snails graze algae off the glass and pick up leftovers. They never go hungry while there is a film on the glass, but water left filthy sees them off. A hungry lionfish will eat a shrimp.
Cherry shrimp
Tiny red shrimp that busy about the plants.
Nerite snail
A striped snail that works its way across the glass, the best algae eater for its size. Lives in either water.
Amano shrimp
A big, see-through shrimp with a serious appetite for algae.
Mystery snail
A golden snail that glides about the sand.
Turbo snail
The reef's hardest-working algae eater.
Peppermint shrimp
A red-striped reef shrimp that tidies up leftovers.
White spot cure
Only on the shelf when Illness is switched on in the settings.
White spot cure
A bottle poured into the tank that clears white spot in hours. Clean water and good food clear it too, but it takes a day or two.
Backgrounds
A backdrop behind the glass. Each is bought once; after that you can swap between the ones you own for nothing.
