Cages
You start with a small cage, room for 1. Each size up is bought once and keeps everything in it. Fancy rats need at least a medium cage.
Medium cage
More room means company for the social ones, and space for a litter to grow up in.
Large cage
More room means company for the social ones, and space for a litter to grow up in.
Grand cage
More room means company for the social ones, and space for a litter to grow up in.
A second cage
Different kinds never share a cage and Syrians live alone, so a second cage is how you keep a second kind. The two share one wallet and one level.
Second cage
A small cage beside your first, with a line-up to pick its first pet from. It upgrades on its own. Set a Cage key to Second cage to open it.
Toys
Toys make a cage happier and keep boredom away. Up to three of the chew stick, tube, sand bath, hammock and seesaw count towards fun at once; the wheel is a treat of its own. Toys, decor and food together add at most +15% happiness.
Wheel
The favourite. A bored pet with energy to spare hops on and runs, which is the quickest way to cheer one up, and wears it out for a good sleep.
Wooden house
Somewhere dark and cosy to sleep. Pets curl up inside it instead of out on the bedding.
Chew stick
Something to gnaw on. Counts as a toy.
Tube and ledge
A tube with a ledge on top that pets climb up to and sit on. Counts as a toy.
Sand bath
A dish of sand to roll in. Counts as a toy.
Hammock
A little hammock to lounge in. Counts as a toy.
Seesaw
A wobbly seesaw. Counts as a toy.
Soft bedding
Soft bedding
Deep, soft bedding that soaks up the mess, so the cage needs cleaning less often.
Decor
None of it does a job; all of it makes the cage somewhere worth living.
Cork log
A hollow cork log to scurry through.
Climbing branch
A climbing branch for the adventurous.
Rope bridge
A rope bridge strung across the cage.
Hay rack
A rack of hay to pull at.
Lookout tower
A tall wooden tower to keep watch from.
Digging box
A deep box of soil for digging, which all of them love.
Travel carrier
Most use when Illness is switched on.
Travel carrier
Where a poorly pet can rest apart from the others, so an illness doesn't spread round the cage.
Food
Everyone starts on seed mix. The other tins aren't better or worse, just different: each is bought once, and swapping between tins you own is free.
Muesli
The tasty one. They pick through it for the best bits and love it, and leave the rest all over the floor.
Nuggets
What a vet would tell you to feed. Nothing to pick out, nothing wasted, and a bit dull for it.
Forage mix
A varied mix they enjoy that goes a good way, for keepers who have seen everything else.
Medicine
Only on the shelf when Illness is switched on in the settings.
Medicine
A sachet in the food that clears wet tail or the sniffles in hours. Clean bedding and good food clear it too, but it takes a day or two.
Backgrounds
A wall behind the cage. Each is bought once; after that you can swap between the ones you own for nothing.
Bookshelf
Window and sill
The sky outside changes with the time of day.
Striped paper
Workshop board
